Its already the 2nd month of the year, and its the love month. Our challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge this time around is to scrap about our first love. It can be a real boy, a celebrity crush perhaps. I gave this challenge a lot of thought...and came up with this:

Yipee! I was finally able to scrap one of the most important photos from our trip last year. A family picture like this doesn't happen often because of the distance so this photo is extra special! More than the sight seeing, spending time with family was the highlight of our trip.

My word for 2012 is OPTIMISM. I know I worry a lot so I need to stay postive on everything. Here's my layout about my resolutions and hopes for 2012. Its kinda personal so I hid some of my journaling under the photo. This picture was taken last October 2011 during my birthday bash with the LB Scrapaholics.

Starting the year right with two new layouts....

Title: Naughty or Nice

Used a mix of Fancy Pants and Simple Stories for this one. This layout is inspired by the challenge at Scrapbookers Anonymous which is all about paint, ink, mist and masking. I spiced up my background by using a lace cardstock (I hoarded a lot of this) as mask and used green Maya Mist. I also distressed the edges of the layout using Worn Lipstick Distress Ink. In short, I had fun making this layout! One thing about this layout....the pictures are from 2010!

Journaling: For sure, Ally will have fun playing in the sand.

Welcome 2012

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Its almost a month since my last post but December will always be the busiest month of the year. I only managed to finish 2 layouts!!! Oh well its a brand new year and I'm optimistic in a lot if not ALL aspects of my life. Scrapping wise I am really hoping that I'll be more productive. For 2011, I only finished 79 layouts compared to 121 in 2010. That's a difference of 42 layouts!

On the first day of the year, I finished a layout that I started in 2011. I hope this means I'll be busy scrapping the whole year round.

Here's the page I finished. Simple but sweet.

A little distressing goes a long way

I needed to satisfy my craving to scrap so I got creative yesterday and scrapped a layout. It looked plain to me so I decided to distress the edges with blue and yellow and this is what I came up with it:

Journaling: Disneyland for the 2nd time but the excitedment is even greater this time around. (May 2011, Anaheim, CA)

I've been loving the sketches at Sketchy Thursdays coz the simplicity leaves a lot of room for the imagination. My two latest layouts are based on their sketches. Too bad I wasn't able to upload the other one in time. Anyway, I also used my Echo Park stash for these two layouts.

This layout is based on this week's sketch. The minute I saw these pics, I knew my title will be "SOAKED!" Used Echo Park Happy Days for this one.

Drama Queen

"You don't love me!" is a line that Ally said a lot just before she turned 5 years old last July. I don't know where she heard this or where she got this line but she says it when we raise our voice on her. This continued for a few months....luckily, she hasn't been saying it anymore. I wonder how she'll react to this story when she grows up. So, here's a layout about this story.

I know I've said this before, but it is true...things have been so busy at work that I wasn't able to scrap for 3 weeks!!!! I wasn't able to blog hop and do my usual scrappy routine but I am hopeful and positive that this will change. Finished this layout first week of September for the PinoyScrapbookers' Secret Scraplift Challenge.... and forgot to post it here. I had fun doing this layout even if I was under time pressure.

Used different lines of Websters' for this one.

I love this photo of my mom with her grandchildren coz their smiles are so natural. Too bad one of my nephews is not in the photo.

Summer Fun

Yeah... I know we are in the middle of the rainy season but this layout made me think of summer and the beach. Made this layout with Sassy Lil' Sketches Sept Week 1 sketch in mind.

Journaling: It's our first time in Boracay as a family of 4. The last time was in Mar 2006 and Ally wasn't born yet. It just gets better and better!

Used Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer for this one. I've been wanting these papers for quite some time and I'm glad I have the collection pack!!!

Title: Our Dream Vacation

Made this layout to document our itinerary for our US vacation last summer. Yeah, the photo is not so great but nonetheless scrappable. It was taken while we were waiting for our luggage. They still managed to smile even after 13 hours of flying time! Used Little Yellow Bicycle pps for this one.

My DH doesn't usually make lots of comments regarding my layouts...but for this layout, he said "It's better if the airplane is movable." What?????

Summer Time

Its definitely not summer here but this photo is about one of Julia's favorite things to do during summer. Finished this page a few days ago...inspired by the challenge word at Bird is the Word blog. The word is MEMORY. Used my favorite Ali Edwards stamp for this.

There are so many things in this layout that makes me happy. First of all, I've been wanting to use my 5 and Dime pps by October Afternoon. Well, OA is another one of my faves and I love how the papers from old and new lines can go together. I was also able to use doilies (hand cut from OA Schoolhouse pps) and the banner is from the Seaside line. Secondly, I was able to finish this layout quite fast, less than 2 hours I think and that's fast for a slow scrapper like me. And of course, its another moment in my daughter Julia's life that I was able to scrap about....she loves to go biking and was able to learn fast (so unlike me, in this aspect)!

I used the Luscious line plus a little of Sweet Threads for this one. The layout is not my typical layout coz I rarely use 5x7 photos nowadays but the photo is very special. This is the photo of our scrapbooking family in our little town. We get together for Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and birthdays too!

Made this layout for Paper Secrets Brand Challenge. The featured brand is Basic Grey. I used Life of the Party for this one which is so ideal for Disney pictures! If there's a recent staple in my layouts lately, well it has to be the Ali Edwards' quote stamps! I just love it! This layout is also inspired by WW #49 at ScrapFIT It's all about banners!

The Color Room is one of the scrapbooking sites that I visit often when I need some inspiration. I love seeing the different color palettes each week and I enjoy trying it out. Yup, the title and journaling is the story behind this picture! I'm so happy that my girls were able to spend some time with their cousin Korey. I used Echo Park Summer Days for this one and I love it! I kept the embellishments to a minimum to keep it clean and simple.

I just remembered and realized the other day that I started scrapping in July 2007. That means I've been scrapping for 4 years now, so Happy Anniversary to me!!! LOL! I'm really so happy that I discovered this wonderful hobby. Thanks to Rita Vergara who introduced me to scrapbooking and to the rest of the LB Scrapaholics who are now my very dear friends. I look forward to more years of scrapping (and scrap shopping, hehe), more finished layouts, and more memories recorded!

Journaling: The weather was perfect for a day at Navy Pier.

I used a photo of myself with DD Julia and cousin Essa, taken at Boracay on our vacation last April. I used Basic Grey's Lauderdale line for this one which is perfect for summer layouts!

I'm back!!!

Hello blog! I'm back and hopefully I'll be back often. LOL! I can't believe I haven't posted anything for 3 months! To cut the story short...we were away for a 2 week vacation during the last 2 weeks of May, then it was back to school for my girls, and everything else kept me busy. I have lots of photos to print and scrap and new scrappy stuff to play ---this should be enough motivation for me!

Good news is...I was able to finish 5 layouts recently! Thanks to Iris Uy's Pink Paislee/Crate Paper class!

Inspired by sketches

My scrapping output has been low for the past few months but I try my best to squeeze in some scrapping time. Here are two layouts that I finished lately... both are inspired by sketches from Inspired Blueprints.

This layout is about Ally and her eagerness to learn how to read. I'm so happy that we didn't have any difficulty teaching her how to read. I'm so glad too that DH is patient when it comes to teaching her. He's actually more patient than me! I used mostly October Afternoon for this one.

This layout shows me, my cousins, and my girls goofing around at my cousin's wedding last Feb. I used Basic Grey's Olivia for this one.

Just sharing my layout for Prima's March Build-A-Page....here's the sketch:

And here's my layout using photos of my dear Ally taken last Valentine's day. They had a masquerade party that day and she excitedly picked her dress for the occasion and also wanted to have her hair curled.

March literally passed me by. There's so much happening around I barely had time to scrap. I finished only 6 layouts for the month! April is also a busy month but I hope I'll be able to scrap more!

Summer vacation is here!!! Ally is done for school for this school year and Julia has only a few days left of school. Exams are over but she still has to go to school for some practices. I'm excited for summer too...no more teachers, no more books! LOL! The weather is quite erratic though. Not the typical summer weather that we are used to. Anyway, I was finally able to scrap Julia's 2nd grade pics. Here it is:

I've noticed that I've been using the blue-green-yellow combo lately and I like it. It's nice to take a break from using pink all the time. I used the Little Yellow Bicycle TWIG collection for this one with bits and pieces of Prima, Sassafrass and October Afternoon. Did some misting too!

Just the Way You Are

I absolutely love Bruno Mars' song Just the Way You Are. At present it is the ringtone of my phone, hehe. I also sing the song to Ally and most of the time she asks me to stop. I guess she doesn't like my singing. LOL! Lately though, she been singing the song and its really cute hearing it from a 4 year old. Anyway, the song is the inspiration for this layout:

I scrapped a family picture, taken on the first day of the year 2011. At first I wanted to scrap a layout without flowers since DH is in the photo but I wasn't successful. LOL! Not my usual combo

I'm the type of scrapper that likes trying out different stuff. I don't like it when my layouts look the same. I like variety in my pages which is why I tried out the color combo for the week at The Color Room. Its definitely not my usual colors: red (or dark orange), orange, brown and light pink.

I used bits and pieces of Graphic45, Fancy Pants, October Afternoon, and Making Memories for this one. Also did a bit of masking using a Tim Holtz mask and some paint. I used a photo of DD Julia, taken in Pagudpud. The beach there is really beautiful and she enjoyed playing in the sand.

I mentioned in my previous post that I was inspired by the color palette for the Prima Product Picks for the Month and this is what I came up with:

I used a photo of my 2 girls taken last Valentine's day. For this layout I tried out Resist Stamping which was introduced to me by my friend Rita. It is quite challenging to do and I think I need more practice. LOL!

Just sharing my layout for Iris Uy's challenge for those who attended her class last January. Her challenge was to create a layout using the left overs from the kit. Here's my layout...

I misted and distressed the edges of the base paper which is a plain white cardstock. Of course I had to do some fussy cutting. I used here a picture of Ally when she was a flower girl at my brother in law's wedding last June. She was quite excited to have make up and get her hair done but she missed her nap that afternoon so she was quite cranky.

Here are some details. I stamped a butterfly image here using 2 colors of distress ink:

I was also able to use a Maya Road pearl pin and a crystal one (don't know what brand coz its the last one).

I've been inspired to create Christmas pages even if its mid February already, LOL! Here's one of them which I made using sketch #7 of GetYourSketchOn.

I used photos of Julia and Ally taken during Christmas morning last year. I used a mix of Webster's and Basic Grey for this one, plus stickers from 7Gypsies, and a die cut from Pink Paislee. I just love how Christmas papers and embellishments don't get outdated. Some of the stuff I used here are from two Christmases ago.

Last Saturday, me and my scrapping friends had a great afternoon with none other than Iris Uy! She came to our town and taught us some techniques on stamping and misting. We used beautiful Webster's Pages patterned paper, trims, and sparklers too! We also used Pink Paislee Ink Resist patterned paper which is a new fave of mine coz its so easy to use! With all the happenings around Christmas time, I wasn't even able to update this blog of mine during the holidays. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about. It was a busy season indeed but now things are starting to slow down and we are getting back to routine. Is that good or bad?

Anyway, 2010 was a great year and there's just so much to be thankful for....a happy family life, stable careers, good health, the opportunity to travel, and lasting friendships. Can't wait to see what 2011 has for us!!!

Of course this post won't be complete without any news about my favorite hobby. I'm really excited to let you know that I made it to the design team of one of the newest sketch sites... GET YOUR SKETCH ON! It's actually the extension of Get Sketchy Card Challenges. Watch out for our first sketch very soon! You can read about the announcement HERE.

That's our elements challenge for the Design Dollies this week and I think its cute! So this is about anything nautical. I used the compass which is a navigational tool as inspiration for my layout and used beach photos too! Here's my take:

I used photos from our recent trip to Pagudpud. I really love this beach. The water was so blue and the shoreline was wide. Too bad the waves are quite strong this time of the year, maybe we should go back in the summer.

Christmas is definitely just around the corner. I have started wrapping gifts but still have some shopping left to do. I feel the Christmas spirit and I'm inspired to create Christmas layouts too. I like how this layout turned out, it's one of those unplanned ones where I just cut and paste and added embellies here and there.

My Flower Girls

I'm a big fan of Prima ! Who can resist the flowers right?!? Naturally, I played along with the sketch for October Build-A-Page. I used a photo of my girls when they were flower girls at my brother in law's wedding last June.

Wee Little Ones!

Wee Little Ones! This is what the Design Dollies' elements challenge is all about this week! This is open to your interpretation.This could mean little tiny people, very small embellies, something wee in your photos/images, mini ornaments or mini cards, or whatever. just stick to the theme and you'll be all set.

This is what I did...I scrapped a photo taken when Julia was just about a month old. Her hand sure looks small compared to ours.

I used the minimalist approach to this layout but I love the way it turned out. So happy I was able to use some of my rub-ons. I admit I don't get to use this type of embellishment often.

Working with Different Color Palettes...

I like working with the different color palettes at The Color Room. My comfort zone is shades of pink but working with the combos makes me think outside the box and I like it : ) Here are a couple I worked with:

Up to this age...they both still love riding the carousel. I used SEI papers that have been in my stash for quite some time now.

This is a recent photo of my girls...I love seeing them like this. Julia is really affectionate and likes hugging and kissing Ally but they do get on each other's nerves too.

I used bits and pieces of K & Co, Webster's, Basic Grey and Prima for this one. Here's a close-up of the flowers which I misted with Marshmallow Glimmer Mist for the added sparkle.

A Brand New Combo

I've loved Webster's Pages for quite some time now. I actually try and get a little of each line. I joined the monthly challenge for the first time last September. The challenge called for multiple photos and scallops. I joined at the last minute and uploaded my entry on the last day of the contest. Well, I got lucky!!!! Yipee! I won!!!

Here's my entry...

I used photos of Julia when she was just one year old. I have a lot of unscrapped photos during her early childhood coz I started scrapping when she was already almost 5. I used those petite 6x6 papers from Life's Portrait, and Lullaby lane and the layered scalloped borders are from Nature's Storybook.

This really made me dance for joy!!!

Inspired by Purple

I used to be scared of using purple on my layouts but things have changed. LOL! I played along with the palette at The Color Room this week and created not just one but two layouts!

Here's my first layout... using photos of me and my sister's. Purple flowers were in full bloom last spring when I visited her!

My second layout is of my 2 girls...they both love wearing purple!

Here's a close-up of the prima flower... I sprayed it with Marshmallow glimmer mist which is colorless but gave it some shimmer!

I enjoyed using purple and I think you will too : )

The color challenge this week for Design Dollies is up! Honestly, this was quite challenging for me because of the yellow but I love thinking out of the box. This lets me work with colors that I don't usually use.

When I found out about this DT assignment, My Little Yellow Bicycle Love Letters collection is what came to my mind right away! I'm glad I was able to use those transparencies. It has been in my stash for about a year now...

The elements challenge for Design Dollies this week involves making an ATC and using this ATC on a project. Hmmm....this is really something to think about for me. This is my ATC...

And here's my project... a box that has not been thrown away coz I know I will use it sometime.

I painted it first with bronze acrylic paint and then I placed patterned paper, pearl trim, flowers, and my ATC. It is now an altered gift box!!!

I was browsing through an old issue of Creating Keepsakes when I read this statement by Ali Edwards: "Stop overthinking and start creating." I really like this statement of hers, coz I'm such a slow scrapper! I always think twice, or thrice, even more on what papers I should use!

I was so glad I was able to spend time with my nephew Korey when I visited them last May. I will always remember that he decides on where we should sit during dinner time; who sits beside him in the car, usually its me or lola (grandma); he wants me to watch him play Wii, or I play with him (which I enjoyed); and he gave up his bed for 2 weeks and slept on the couch during my stay! Miss you Korey!

I hope the coming days won't be as busy, I miss scrapping!

I have been super busy these past few weeks and I'm hoping things slow down a bit. I have been unable to scrap except for DT layouts. Family Ties

I've been so busy for the past 2 weeks, there are just so many things going on! It was Ally's birthday last july 14 (that's another story) and then we had a storm visit our town, and of course there's still work. Oh well, I want to share a layout I finished about a week ago, but only had the chance to photograph today...

This layout is based for the ongoing PageMaps contest. Photo was taken last May when I visited my sister & her family. Making this layout makes me miss them more...

I used OA Fly a Kite PPs for this one and some scraps too....

The element challenge over at Design Dollies is up and here's my layout! The inspiration this week is any contemporary song, nothing older than the 90's please.

Julia is a big Taylor Swift fan so I wanted to scrap about this obsession of hers. The Fearless CD has been in my car CD player for months now! Contrary to the title though, Julia is quite a coward. She's afraid of bugs, any sudden sounds, & yucky stuff. So my journaling goes: Be bold, be brave, just like one of your favorite songs! I used mostly Sassafrass for this one, and did some misting using glimmer mist and shimmerz spritz.

I can't believe half of the year is over. Well, so many things have happened and I can say I couldn't be happier. Life is good!

To celebrate the 1st day of the month, I would like to share with you my first layout as DT of Design Dollies. I'm really super excited coz the challenges are so much fun! Here's the sketch by Kristy:

This Makes Me Happy

I haven't been productive scrapping wise. There's just so many things going on right now... its back to school, and we were away for a quick weekend vacation. I've only done 3 layouts for this month including this one and my scrap stuff are gathering dust. So sad but there's a lot of reasons why this layout makes me happy. Firstly, its a photo of me and my sister, and I got to play with some of my new scrap supplies like the deep edge daisy puncher, and the branch was cut using a sizzix die.

By the way, this layout is based on Inspired Blueprints sketch #49.

Journaling: Having a sister who's thousands of miles away is not easy. I'm so glad to see you again. The bonding moments were great. (5/28/10)

Gotta go, I have a layout on my table waiting to be finished!

Just want to share with you my layout for the June Visual Challenge at Butterfly Crafts. We have an Ad-inspired challenge this time. It's a very inspiring ad and you still have up to the end of the month to join!

Journaling: One of the challenges I faced as your mother was putting you to sleep.
The base paper is by My Little Yellow Bicycle which I've had for about a year now but its so pretty I find it so hard to use. LOL!

Hello blog...I'm back from my 2 week vacation, and here are just a few pictures to share.

I had a great time shopping...

and sightseeing...

but most importantly, it was great bonding with my sister who I don't see that often enough. I miss you already!

I got to spend time with my nephews too...

I'm already looking forward to seeing you guys again!

On the scrappy side of things, I've got some good news to share... I made it to the design team of DESIGN DOLLIES! Yipee! I hope you can join me in the coming challenges coz I guarantee you that it will be FUN!

I'm still lovin the shabby chic look at the moment, and here are two more layouts that I finished recently but haven't been posted here yet

This layout is based on Prima's sketch for April. I just adore how Ally looks up to Julia. If my memory serves me right, I believe I have a picture just like this...me looking up to my dear sister.

This layout is for A Peek Into Yesterday's April Challenge about "New Growth." Its a "ME" layout this time. Photo was taken on my birthday last year with the bouquet that DH gave to me.
