A little distressing goes a long way

I needed to satisfy my craving to scrap so I got creative yesterday and scrapped a layout.  It looked plain to me so I decided to distress the edges with blue and yellow and this is what I came up with it:

Title: Disney Magic
Journaling: Disneyland for the 2nd time but the excitedment is even greater this time around. (May 2011, Anaheim, CA)
Materials: Echo Park Summer Days and Happy Days mixed in with Prima and Scenic Route plus a Tim Holtz die

As always, a Sketchy Thursdays' sketch keeps me going and as usual, I almost forgot about the deadline. LOL! Here's the sketch for this week:

Gotta run!!!

Sketchy Thursdays and Echo Park

I've been loving the sketches at Sketchy Thursdays coz the simplicity leaves a lot of room for the imagination. My two latest layouts are based on their sketches. Too bad I wasn't able to upload the other one in time. Anyway, I also used my Echo Park stash for these two layouts.

This layout is based on this week's sketch. The minute I saw these pics, I knew my title will be "SOAKED!" Used Echo Park Happy Days for this one.

Here's the sketch:

This next layout is the one that didn't quite meet the deadline....

Obviously, I'm still working on pics from last summer. LOL! Talk about backlog but I'm getting there...

Drama Queen

"You don't love me!" is a line that Ally said a lot just before she turned 5 years old last July. I don't know where she heard this or where she got this line but she says it when we raise our voice on her. This continued for a few months....luckily, she hasn't been saying it anymore. I wonder how she'll react to this story when she grows up. So, here's a layout about this story.

Some close- ups:

BTW, this layout is based on Prima's October Build-A-Page. Here's the lovely sketch:

I'm back!!!!

I know I've said this before, but it is true...things have been so busy at work that I wasn't able to scrap for 3 weeks!!!! I wasn't able to blog hop and do my usual scrappy routine but I am hopeful and positive that this will change. Here are a few pages I finished from my last scrapping session with the LB Scrapaholics.

Title: Just the 3 of us
Journaling: This doesn't happen often but when it does, it's EXTRA SPECIAL!
Love this photo of me with my mom and my sis!
Used MME & The Girls Paperie PPS for this one. Thanks to Issa for the lovely border punch.

Title: What's for Lunch?
Journaling: Our first meal afte a long flight! We were hungry and tired but also very excited!
Of course we had one of the staple food: PIZZA!
Used OA pps from different lines. Love that they mix and match!

Title: Lollipop Princess
Journaling: $6.50 for 5 pieces of Mickey Mouse shaped lollipos but your smile is PRICELESS!
Ally really loves sweets and her smile shows it.
Used Pink Paislee Hometown Summer for this layout and I think that line is super cute! Made this layout for  Scrapbookers Anonymous die-cut challenge. Love that Sizzix tree branch!

And lastly, my good friend and super scrapper Issa, made this layout for me....thank you so much!

Title: At Crown Fountain
Journaling: Julia, Ally and Korey having the time of their life.
Materials Used: BG Life of the Party and EP Summer Days

Thanks for looking peeps! I'm off to my scrap table!

At the farm

Finished this layout first week of September for the PinoyScrapbookers' Secret Scraplift Challenge.... and forgot to post it here. I had fun doing this layout even if I was under time pressure.

Title: At the Farm
Journaling: Lola Shirley having a great time with her grand kids.
Used different lines of Websters' for this one.
I love this photo of my mom with her grandchildren coz their smiles are so natural. Too bad one of my nephews is not in the photo.

Here's another "farm" layout... this time I based it on a the sketch challenge at Get Picky BUT I wasn't able to upload it before the deadline.

Thanks for stopping by... I hope I get to scrap more this October. Fingers crossed.

Summer Fun

Yeah... I know we are in the middle of the rainy season but this layout made me think of summer and the beach. Made this layout with Sassy Lil' Sketches Sept Week 1 sketch in mind.

Title: Summer Fun
Journaling: It's our first time in Boracay as a family of 4. The last time was in Mar 2006 and Ally wasn't born yet. It just gets better and better!
Used Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer for this one. I've been wanting these papers for quite some time and I'm glad I have the collection pack!!!

Quickie layout

I'm so sorry for being a bad blogger...no post for almost a month! I'm still here, and still scrapping but as they say, real life gets in the way.

Sharing with you a layout done last week based on a sketch at Sketchy Thursdays:

Title: Our Dream Vacation
Made this layout to document our itinerary for our US vacation last summer. Yeah, the photo is not so great but nonetheless scrappable. It was taken while we were waiting for our luggage. They still managed to smile even after 13 hours of flying time! Used Little Yellow Bicycle pps for this one.

Here's a close-up:

My DH doesn't usually make lots of comments regarding my layouts...but for this layout, he said "It's better if the airplane is movable." What?????

Summer Time

Its definitely not summer here but this photo is about one of Julia's favorite things to do during summer. Finished this page a few days ago...inspired by the challenge word at Bird is the Word blog. The word is MEMORY. Used my favorite Ali Edwards stamp for this.

There are so many things in this layout that makes me happy. First of all, I've been wanting to use my 5 and Dime pps by October Afternoon. Well, OA is another one of my faves and I love how the papers from old and new lines can go together. I was also able to use doilies (hand cut from OA Schoolhouse pps) and the banner is from the Seaside line. Secondly, I was able to finish this layout quite fast, less than 2 hours I think and that's fast for a slow scrapper like me. And of course, its another moment in my daughter Julia's life that I was able to scrap about....she loves to go biking and was able to learn fast (so unlike me, in this aspect)!

Been creating with Basic Grey recently

I have been creating with Basic Grey recently and  I heard about their new blog too.  Here's a layout based on the sketch contest that they have over there.

Title: Easter Egg Hunt

I used the Luscious line plus a little of Sweet Threads for this one. The layout is not my typical layout coz I rarely use 5x7 photos nowadays but the photo is very special. This is the photo of our scrapbooking family in our little town. We get together for Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and birthdays too!

By the way, here's the sketch...

Here's another Basic Grey layout, again using the Luscious line...

Title: 10.18.10
Journaling: Julia and Ally letting everybody know Mommy's age. Yup, I'm 38!

This layout is based on a PageMaps sketch which is the sketch for Paper Secrets August challenge. Photo was taken on my birthday last year.

Gotta go...I'm still itching to scrap! Thanks for looking!

Girly layouts

Having two daughters means I create girly layouts most of time. I can't really stay away from Prima and Websters right ?! LOL! Anyway, here are my most recent layouts....

Title: Ally's 5th bday
Used the beautiful Let's Celebrate line from Webster's.

Up next is my layout for Prima's build-a-page for August.....

Title: Two of a Kind
I just love the quote on the Prima pp. I think it would be unfair if I used it for just one of my girls so I used it for a photo of the two of them.

That's it folks...we have a 4-day weekend which starts tomorrow but the weather forecast doesn't look so good.

Fun times and more....

Work has busy the past few days but I need to scrap! Here are my recently finished layouts...

Title: Fun Times

Made this layout for Paper Secrets Brand Challenge.  The featured brand is Basic Grey. I used Life of the Party for this one which is so ideal for Disney pictures! If there's a recent staple in my layouts lately, well it has to be the Ali Edwards' quote stamps! I just love it! This layout is also inspired by WW #49 at ScrapFIT It's all about banners!

These next two layouts are the layouts I did at Liezl's birthday bash.

Title: Together @ The Bean
Journaling: Cloud Gate aka The Bean - one of the places Ally wanted to see!

Title: Up, Up and Away
Journaling: Daddy, Julia, and Ally enjoyed every minute of it but I had my eyes closed most of the time! (Bora, April 2011)

This layout is inspired by the first sketch challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge. Aside from using the sketch, the layout should be about something funny. My pictures are not so funny but my journaling is about how DH and my kids enjoyed parasailing but I was the one scared!!!

There you have it! Hmmm... I wonder if I'll get any scrapping done this week!

Here's a little close-up....

This is my take on the inspirational challenge over at Get Picky.  Hehe. Talk about last minute...the challenge closes in 5 hours.

More travel layouts...

It has been a busy week and I haven't been able to scrap as much as I want but here are a couple of layouts I finished recently. I'm still scrapping vacation pics...still have a pile to work on.

Title: Perfect Day
Journaling: ...means a day at the beach. This is time well spent (April 2011, Bora)
This layout is inspired by the sketch and journaling prompt at Once Upon a Sketch. I'm lovin' the sketches there! Used bits and pieces of Webters, Shabby Green Door, K& Company, and Girls' Paperie for this one. BTW, here's the sketch:

Here's another one....

Title: Sight Seeing
Journaling: We did not do any shopping, nor did we bump into a celebrity but we enjoyed walking around Rodeo Drive (May 2011)
This layout is based on a sketch over at PageMaps. Used Websters, Pink Paislee, Crate Paper, and a gorgeous Dusty Attic chipboard. Thanks also to Cors for my chipboard title.

Here's a closer look of the chipboard:

Thanks for dropping by!

Yay! I was featured at The Color Room

The Color Room is one of the scrapbooking sites that I visit often when I need some inspiration. I love seeing the different color palettes each week and I enjoy trying it out. It lets me scrap outside my comfort zone especially when the colors are not my "usual." Last week's color palette is not my usual but I gave it a go. Here's my layout....

Title: Buckingham Fountain
Journaling: Photo op at one of the world's largest fountain.

Well, I'm so glad that I joined coz my layout is one of the featured layouts for last week!

Challenge Me Happy!

It's my first time to create a layout inspired by the challenge over at Challenge Me Happy (I just love the name of their blog...it just sounds so happy, hehe). Here's their sketch:

And here's my layout:

Title: Rainy Days Like These Make Me Smile
This layout is all about our first day in Homewood. It was a rainy day but it did not dampen our spirits. It was great to be together!

Tropical Beauties

This stormy weather that we're having is making me want to scrap. Here's what I finished recently:

This layout is based on a sketch at Once Upon A Sketch. This is my first time in joining the challenges there and looks like it won't be my last. The sketches are really fun to work with!

I used BG Lauderdale for the layout which works so well with beach photos.

Gotta go.... there's an unfinished layout on my table!

Best Day Ever!

I was inspired by the sketch at Sketchy Thursdays....

Here is what I came up with....

Title: Best Day Ever
Journaling: According to Korey, this is the best day ever! 5.30.2011 at Navy Pier

Yup, the title and journaling is the story behind this picture! I'm so happy that my girls were able to spend some time with their cousin Korey. I used Echo Park Summer Days for this one and I love it!  I kept the embellishments to a minimum to keep it clean and simple.

By the way, my layout Navy Pier was chosen as one of the faves for the week. Thanks Sketchy Thursdays!

A Scrappy Weekend!

It was a scrappy weekeend for the LB Scrapaholics...we have been planning a little get together to just scrap the day away and it finally happened! Being a slow scrapper, I am happy with the 5 layouts I finished. Here they are:

Title: Grow where you are planted
Journaling: Ally and Julia showing off the loot they got from Easter Egg Hunting (4.24.2011)
Thanks to Issa for the pps, Ritz for the chipboard title, Liezl for the ribbon, and Cors for the branch die!

Title: just like Jessy
Journaling: Ally dressed up just like Jessy
Thanks to Ytet for the journaling card and Helga for the buttons!

Title: Sleepy Head
Journaling: Exploring Disneyland can be tiring...you needed your 1 hour nap DAILY.
This layout is inspired by Pencil Lines sketch 245.

Title: My favorite memories
Journaling: Just arrived at our hotel but couldn't resist posing for some pictures.
I used my all time favorite line...BG Lemonade for this one and thanks to Rita for the bird bath stamp and the journaling card, Ytet for the chipboard and to Cors for my chipboard title!

Title: So blessed
Journaling: Our family at the LBS Easter Egg Hunt, 4.24.2011
Thanks to Ritz for the MLS and Jillibean pps!

I really had fun on that day...even if I only slept for 1 1/2 hours! I'm already looking forward to the next scrapping session!
